Barrie Martelle is an international traveling EDM event photographer from Ottawa, Canada. Barrie started out as a hockey photographer and quickly fell in love with the creative process needed to be successful in low light EDM photography. Since bursting onto the EDM photography scene in 2011, Barrie has quickly earned the respect of artists, industry professionals, and fellow photographers alike. He is now hailed as one of the leading photographers in the EDM industry.
In 2014 Barrie joined forces with BE-Artists manager/owner Jackie Bray who now handles his day to day bookings. Be Artists began in 2012 as a management company, working with both musicians and photographers in the dance music industry. They evolved, and found a niche, representing the top photographers and videographers in the ever growing, dance music scene.
Barrie is currently the resident photographer for a Ottawa-based promotion
company DNA Presents. His past clients and subjects include Sebastian Ingrossso, Tommy Trash, Bingo Players, Tiesto, Hardwell, Above & Beyond, Steve Angello, Eric Prydz, Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, Insomniac, Sensation Canada, Escapade Music Festival, VELD Music Festival, Bal en Blanc and many more. Barrie’s photos have been published in inthemix.com, DJ Magazine (UK), DJ Mag USA, Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen, CTV, DJ Mag Canada, BE Artists and More.
Barrie is a crock pot of ideas, always on low simmer. He makes a great addition to any photography team. He doesn’t sleep enough. His mind won’t let him. Whether it’s the next shoot, the next talk, the next festival, or the next photography project, Barrie just doesn’t stop and that’s why his career keeps moving forward.
When Barrie is not shooting for a artist or major festivals you can find him working on his social media game, developing software, or tuning race car engines for clients all around the world.
